Simone Chaumet in Algeria 1950sThe honorific title is awarded by the Yad Vashem in Institut in Jerusalem (Israel), in order to commemorate non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust.
Simone Chaumet saved the life Jewish children during WWII in the French Alps. Later on she went to Algeria, where she was active for the SCI group. She married the SCI secretary Emile Tanner. Later on they set up a school in Bouzareah. In the struggle of the Algerian Independence war, they were murdered in 1962.
The commemoration to Simone Chaumet takes place on Monday 24.October 2011 at 16:30 in the Salle des Fêtes de la Mairie du 6e arrondissment, 78 rue Bonaparte, in Paris.
